Box Score BRYN MAWR, PA - Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) registered four goals and an assist as the #12 Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team defeated Bryn Mawr College 19-3 in Centennial Conference competition.
Eleven Diplomats scored at least one goal in the game and 14 different players scored at least one point as the Diplomats improved to 8-2, 7-0 in the Centennial Conference.
Historically, the win marked the 12th straight for Franklin & Marshall over Bryn Mawr as the Diplomats are now 12-0 all-time against the Owls. Further, the win moves Franklin & Marshall one win away from clinching home field advantage in the Centennial Conference playoffs as the Diplomats need to defeat either Swarthmore on April 19 in Lancaster or Haverford on April 22 in Lancaster to clinch the #1 seed and hosting rights.
The game included a pair of milestones by Alexis and Allison O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn) on the first goal of the game as Alexis fed Allison for a score 36 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead.
The goal marked the 100th of Allison O'Meara's career as she surpassed Ann Philips, the Diplomats' head coach, for 19th in goals at the College. Further, Alexis O'Meara's assist raised her career-scoring total to 257 points (158 goals and 99 assists) as she moved into sole possession of third place in scoring at the College.
Overall, the Diplomats reeled off the first 12 goals of the game before Bryn Mawr's Millie Bond netted an unassisted goal at 1:34 to open the scoring for the Owls.
Allison O'Meara closed out the first half scoring on a free position shot at 00:48 and an unassisted goal at 00:34 for a 14-1 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Diplomats added five goals and Bryn Mawr tacked on two for the final 19-3 score.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Jr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made one save and allowed one goal in the first half and Kim Pleasants (So., Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby) allowed two goals with one save in the second half for the Diplomats, while Bryn Mawr's Sarah Simons made seven saves in the game.
Franklin & Marshall (8-2, 7-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 19 at home versus Swarthmore College. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
