Box Score LANCASTER, PA - Alexis O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School), Allison O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) and Brenna Dolphin (So., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) recorded hat-tricks as the #10 Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team handled Haverford College 15-7 at Williamson Field to complete a perfect 9-0 Centennial Conference regular season.
For Franklin & Marshall (10-2, 9-0 CC), it marks the first time the Diplomats have completed the Centennial Conference regular season with a perfect record and the 17th 10+ win season in school history.
The victory also clinched a playoff spot for #5 seed McDaniel College as the Green Terror will travel to #4 Dickinson College on April 27 to face the Red Devils in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The winner of the game will then take on the Diplomats at 1:00 p.m. on April 30 in Lancaster in the semifinals of the 2005 Centennial Conference playoffs, while #2 seed Gettysburg College will face #3 Ursinus College 45 minutes following the conclusion of the Diplomats' game.
On May 1, the semifinal winners will square off at Williamson Field at 1:00 p.m. for the 2005 Centennial Conference title. This year, F&M defeated Gettysburg 8-7 in Lancaster on March 30, managed McDaniel 11-7 in Lancaster on April 6, downed Dickinson 12-5 in Carlisle on April 12 and upended Ursinus 7-6 on April 14 in Lancaster.
Against Haverford, the Diplomats out shot the Fords (9-7, 4-5 Centennial Conference) 30-14 on the day, including a 14-5 advantage in the first half, as Franklin & Marshall built a 10-2 halftime lead and cruised to its fifth straight win over Haverford.
Franklin & Marshall jumped on the scoreboard 1:40 into the game as Alexis O'Meara tallied a goal off an assist from Allison O'Meara for a 1-0 lead. The Diplomats continued the roll as Alexis O'Meara scored on a free-position shot at 27:17 for a 2-0 lead.
Dolphin tallied the next three goals as she scored an unassisted goal at 27:00 before converting back-to-back free position shots at 26:01 and 21:36 for a 5-0 lead.
Allison O'Meara added a free position goal at 19:09 before Alexis O'Meara finished a feed from Kiki Foster (Jr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) at 17:58 for a 7-0 lead.
The Fords countered as Mary Van Ogtrop scored at 17:12 to cut the margin to six goals. Sloan Giampa (So., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) and Margaret Sampson traded goals to keep the Fords within six goals at 8-2, but Allison O'Meara scored off a feed from her sister at 3:42 and on a free position shot at 2:34 for a 10-2 halftime lead.
Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) added to the lead as she scored on assists from Alexis O'Meara and Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) at 26:46 and 23:49, respectively, before Foster scored on an assist from Keever at 20:37 and on a free position shot at 18:41 for a 14-2 lead.
Haverford sliced the lead to 10 goals as Tripti Tewari and Jody Mayer scored unassisted goals at 15:56 and 12:37, but Abby Kaplan (Fr., Bethesda, MD/Bullis) added a goal for F&M at 3:51 before Tewari, Van Ogtrop and Sampson added scores in the final 1:40 of play for the 15-7 final.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Jr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made seven saves to earn the win, while Haverford's Jen Weitz recorded 15 saves.
Franklin & Marshall (10-2, 9-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 26 at home versus Rowan University. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
