#13 Diplomats Beach Washington Shorewomen 16-6 in Women's Lacrosse

LANCASTER, PA - Alexis O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) tallied a goal and four assists, while Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) and Kiki Foster (Jr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) both scored four goals to lead #13 Franklin & Marshall College to a 16-6 win over host Washington College in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.

Trailing 7-4 at halftime, Washington (3-9, 1-5 Centennial Conference) cut the lead 7-5 at the 27:12 mark as Tarra Boulden finished a feed from Jenna Gouck. However, the Diplomats put the game away with eight unanswered goals.

The Diplomats started their second half scoring at 24:52 as Brenna Dolphin (So., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) netted an unassisted goal to open the floodgates. Foster buried a feed from Cassels at 22:26 before Cassels ripped in unassisted goals at 16:44 and 13:16.

Foster then took over the scoring putting in an unassisted goal at 12:58 and converted a feed from Allison O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) for a 13-5 lead. Beverly Menghetti (So., Glen Mills, PA/Penncrest) scored off an assist by Alexis O'Meara at 6:40 and Cassels finished a feed from Foster at 5:55 for a 15-5 lead.

The Shorewomen broke F&M's scoring streak as Lindsey Eichner scored off an assist from Megan Block at 4:39 before Foster wrapped up the game with a score off a free position shot with 42 seconds left on the game clock.

In goal, Kamissa Mort (Jr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) played the first half allowing four goals with three saves on eight shots, while Kim Pleasants (So., Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby) recorded three saves with one goal allowed on seven shots in the second half for the Diplomats. Nanna Kozemchak took the loss for Washington allowing 16 goals with 18 saves on 42 F&M shots.

The Diplomats never trailed in the game as Alexis O'Meara scored an unassisted goal at 29:25 and assisted Menghetti and Akemi Moriuchi (Fr., Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown Friends) at 28:49 and 26:56, respectively, to open a 3-0 lead.

Washington responded as Erin Bollinger scored off an assist from Eichner to pull to within two goals, but F&M reeled off unassisted goals by Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) and Alison O'Meara at 22:48 and 19:54, respectively, before Cassels converted on a feed from Alexis O'Meara at 13:48.

The Shorewomen stormed back as Kelly Gallagher finished back-to-back feeds from Eichner at 12:52 and 8:49 before Bolinger scored off an assist from Melanie Ruppert at 7:20 to pull Washington to within 6-4.

Franklin & Marshall finished the half off with a score at 1:12 as Dolphin off an assist from Cassels to push the margin back to three goals and set up the Diplomats second half scoring explosion.

Overall, O'Meara's five points (one goal, four assists) raised her career-scoring total to 155 goals and 98 assists for 253 points as she moved into fourth place in scoring and second in assists.

Historically, she is now eight assists away from surpassing Lauren Paul '03 (105) for the school record in assists and is four points shy of eclipsing Maria Gaydos '88 for third in scoring at the College.

Franklin & Marshall (5-2, 4-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 12 at Dickinson College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
