Box Score 3 ANNVILLE, PA - Franklin & Marshall swept Neumann College, Penn State University-Altoona and Haverford College in three games as the Diplomats finished 3-0 at the 2005 Lebanon Valley College Volleyball Invitational.
Versus Neumann College in a 30-16, 30-21, 30-17 win, setter Jackie Skibbie (Sr., Darby, PA/Merion Mercy) handed out 26 assists and recorded six kills, five digs and two service aces, while middle hitter Susan Taylor (So., The Woodlands, TX/John Cooper) notched 11 kills and two blocks and outside hitter Alexis Dansky (Jr., Yardley, PA/George School) added three kills and two blocks in the first ever meeting between F&M (7-1, 1-0 Centennial Conference) and Neumann in volleyball.
Franklin & Marshall continued its roll against Penn State-Altoona as Taylor recorded 18 kills, a solo block and a block assist as the Diplomats won 30-24, 30-24, 30-26.
Outside hitter Becca Zeigler (Sr., Manchester, PA/Northeastern) added seven kills and a block assist, Dansky tacked on five kills, two solo blocks and a block assist, Skibbie notched 42 assists and libero Meghan Godorov (Sr., Orefield, PA/Parkland) tallied 14 digs and a service ace.
In the tournament finale, F&M upended Centennial Conference foe Haverford College 30-23, 30-28, 30-28 behind 20 kills, 15 digs and two service aces by outside hitter Margot Phelan (Fr., Ellicott City, MD/Centennial).
Skibbie added nine kills, 39 assists, two service aces and eight digs, while Taylor recorded eight kills, two solo blocks and a block assist as the Diplomats improved to 17-4 all-time against the Fords and upped their record to 7-1 on the season.
Historically, the Diplomats 7-1 record marks the best start to a season since the 2000 team opened the year 12-2 on the way to a 34-6 record, the Centennial Conference Championship and the NCAA "Sweet 16".
For their performance in the tournament, Godorov and Phelan joined Lebanon Valley College's Natalie Goodfellow and Eastern University's Kara Hildebrand, Emma Klein and Erin Meredith on the All-Tournament Team.
Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on September 20 at home versus Swarthmore College before hosting Haverford on September 22. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m.
