Box Score LANCASTER, PA - Forward Eileen Keever (Sr., Prospect Park, PA/ Interboro) scored a pair of goals as the Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team overtook York College 2-1 in non-conference action at Baker Campus.
The victory raises the Diplomats' record to 20-6 all-time against York and snaps the team's five-game losing streak versus the Spartans dating back to 1992.
Neither team established immediate control of the game, battling back and forth until F&M took a 1-0 lead with 7:26 left in the first half. Forward Brittany Croll (Sr., Lewes, DE/ Indian River) hustled the ball up the left side of field, dishing it across the offensive circle, before Keever beat her defender and buried a shot past Spartan goalie Megan Eckenrode for the only goal of the period.
The F&M offense kept its momentum into the second half, as Brenna Dolphin (Jr., Wilmington, DE/ Archmere Academy) bounced the ball off the goalkeeper's pads before Keever recovered the ball and deflected it around the goalie for the game-winner just 3:59 into play. York attempted a comeback, responding with 12:06 left on the clock, as Lauren Calabree hit the back of the cage off a pass from Rachel Alderfer, but it was not enough to overcome the Diplomats.
In goal, Michelle Altman (Sr., Trumbull, CT/ Trumbull) recorded nine saves on 18 York shots to earn the win, while Eckenrode recorded eight saves on 15 F&M shots.
