Box Score LANCASTER, PA - Jessika Mancino (Fr., Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) assisted two goals and Brittany Croll (Sr., Lewes, DE/Indian River) added a goal and an assist as the #11 nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall field hockey team defeated Haverford College 5-0 in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
Five Diplomats players scored, and the Diplomats did not waste any time getting on the board, as they scored just 4:52 into the game.
Samantha Bentley (So., Woolwich, NJ/Archmere Academy) scored her first goal of the season and gave the Diplomats all the scoring they would need when she redirected a pass from Brenna Dolphin (Jr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) past Haverford goalkeeper Amie Roe.
Allison Barthold (So., Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) added some insurance for the Diplomats when she touched home a shot on the left side of the cage from a Croll pass on a penalty corner. Croll and Jess Senior (Jr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) combined on a fast break to close the scoring in the first half.
Mancino helped spark the scoring in the second half of the game, sending passes to Lauren Wasp (So., Potomac, MD/Georgetown Visitation) and Taylor Blazewski (Fr., Lawrenceville, NJ/Stuart Country Day) who each tapped home their first goals of the season.
In goal, Lindsay Klimik (Sr., Brick, NJ/Brick) played the first half and recorded one save to earn the win and Michelle Altman (Sr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) played in the second half for the Diplomats, but no shots reached her in goal. For Haverford, Amie Roe made eleven saves to take the loss.
Franklin & Marshall (7-1, 1-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on September 28 at Ursinus College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
