LANCASTER,PA - Outside hitter Margot Phelan recorded 21 kills (.370 hitting percentage), 14 digs, and two service aces to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Muhlenberg College to round out Centennial Conference (CC) regular season competition.
The win improves F&M's CC record to 10-0, as they remain in first place in the Conference and will host the 2006 Centennial Conference Championship tournament November 4-5.
Other strong performances came from right side hitter Erica Spangler who totaled nine kills (.368 hitting percentage), two solo blocks, and one block assist, while middle hitter Susan Taylor knocked down 10 kills, one solo block, and tree block assists. Maritza Fair leads the team in kills, as she added 14 kills (.419 hitting percentage), one solo block, and two block assists in Wednesday's match.
Setters Holly Cordisco and Valerie Pusateri also had strong showings, as they recorded 30 and 28 assists, respectively, and added a combined six kills, and 15 digs.
On the defensive end, Jenna Walck managed 16 digs while libero Nicole Kushman boasted 17 digs, falling just 10 digs shy of the 1000 dig benchmark.
F&M continues in non-conference action at the Eastern Extravaganza October 27-28. The team is scheduled to play Eastern University and Lycoming College. Game time is schedule for 8:00 p.m. Friday night.
