LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College guard Sarah Meisenberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Severn School) scored 10 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out seven assists in 23 minutes to narrowly miss the first triple-double of her career as the Diplomats knocked off Bryn Mawr College 60-33 in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at the Mayser Center.
Overall, the Diplomats (7-13, 4-9 Centennial Conference) built a 23-0 lead to start the game and never trailed as Franklin & Marshall allowed the fewest points in program history since a 58-29 victory over the Owls at Bryn Mawr on November 26, 2002.
Trailing 31-5 with 4:43 left in the first half, Bryn Mawr (3-19, 0-15 Centennial Conference) closed out the half with an 8-0 run as Amy Johnson made a free throw, Julia Harris and Katie Kent made back-to-back lay-ups, Katie Driscoll made a free throw and Jessica Allen dropped in a lay-up to slice the Diplomats' lead to 31-13 at halftime.
Harris made a lay-up with 19:06 left in the second half to pull Bryn Mawr to within 16 points at 31-15, but the Diplomats went on a 14-0 run fueled by back-to-back-to-back lay-ups by Meisenberg to pull ahead 45-15 and cruise to the win.
For Franklin & Marshall, point guard Dana Johns (Sr., York, PA/Eastern York) added eight points to raise her scoring total to 1,030 points as she is now five points shy of surpassing Aurora Gonzalez '97 for 11th in program history. Further, she now has 240 steals, 279 assists and 157 three-pointers as she ranks first in treys, third in steals and third in assists at Franklin & Marshall.
In addition, forward Brittany Braxton (So., Pearl River, NY/Nanuet) scored five points and pulled down a game high 12 rebounds, while guard Jessica Bishop (So., Verona, NJ/Montclair) added eight points off the bench.
Harris finished with 11 points and five steals to lead the Owls, while Allen added four points and nine rebounds.
The key to the game was dominance on the glass as F&M held a 46-34 advantage in rebounds, including a 16-to-two margin on the offensive glass.
Franklin & Marshall (7-13, 4-9 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on February 7 at Dickinson College in Centennial Conference play. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
