#10 Franklin & Marshall Routs Haverford 16-6 in Women's Lacrosse

HAVERFORD, PA - Midfielder Sloan Giampa (Jr., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) scored four goals and handed out three assists to account for seven points as the #10 Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team opened the 2006 Centennial Conference schedule with a 16-6 win at Haverford College.

Overall, seven Diplomats scored goals and 10 different F&M players tallied a point as Franklin & Marshall improved to 5-0 on the year and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference.

F&M jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first six minutes of play in the game as Sarah Meisenberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Seven) finished a pass from Catherine Onnen (So., Lutherville, MD/St. Paul's School for Girls) at 27:33 before Giampa fed passes to Onnen at 24:30 and Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) at 24:01.

The teams traded goals as Elizabeth Koelmel netted an unassisted goal at 19:23 for the Fords and Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) finished a feed from Devi Hensch (Fr., Bordentown, NJ/Northern Burlington) at 17:20 for a 4-1 lead.

Casey Sanborn scored an unassisted goal at 12:40 for the Fords to slice the margin to 4-2, but F&M netted four straight goals as Giampa scored an assist from Onnen at 10:56 before Meisenberg found Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/Hill School) and Foster at 8:38 and 8:05, respectively, and Sarah Nyman (Fr., Malvern, PA/Great Valley) connected with Ellie Lisle (So., Gladwyne, PA/Harriton) at 7:39 to push the lead out to 8-2.

The Fords tallied the next two goals as Meredith Wen scored a free position goal at 7:07 and Sanborn found the back of the goal unassisted at 6:21, but the Diplomats closed the half with a trio of scores as Foster hit Pritchard for a score at 4:14, Foster netted a free position goal at 1:41 and Meisenberg finished a pass from Giampa at 1:10 to carry an 11-4 lead into halftime.

Franklin & Marshall put the game away to open the second half as Giampa scored back-to-back unassisted goals at 29:29 and 27:31 before firing a free position shot past Haverford goalie Chelsea Meerbach to set the lead at 14-4.

Pritchard and Lisle scored at 13:55 and 10:13, respectively, to finish off the Diplomats' scoring before Sanborn tallied a goal at 3:16 and Tripti Tewari scored with 27 seconds left for the Fords to set the final score.

In goal, Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made three saves to earn the win, while Meerbach stopped seven of the Diplomats 26 shots.

The win marks the Diplomats 15th straight regular season victory as the blue and white has not lost a game in the regular season since an 11-8 defeat by William Smith College on March 15, 2005.

Further, the win marks the Diplomats 15th straight Centennial Conference regular season victory as F&M has not dropped a non-playoff conference game since a 9-8 loss to Washington College on April 10, 2004.

Franklin & Marshall (5-0, 1-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on March 26 at #2 Salisbury University in non-conference action. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
