Box Score SWARTHMORE, PA - Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) scored six goals and handed out an assist to account for seven points as the #7 Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team defeated Swarthmore College 15-7 at Clothier Field in Centennial Conference action.
F&M (6-1, 2-0 Centennial Conference), ranked #7 in the nation according to the Laxpoer.com Computer Rankings, rallied from a 2-1 deficit 7:29 into the game behind the play of Prichard to carry an 8-3 lead into halftime.
The Diplomats opened the scoring 1:48 into the game as Sloan Giampa (Jr., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) slipped her defender and buried a shot past Swarthmore goalie Susannah Blair for a 1-0 lead. The Garnet Tide (8-1, 1-1 Centennial Conference) answered less than three minutes later as Lindsay Roth scored an unassisted goal at 4:32 before Katie Crawford tallied an unassisted score at 7:29 to put Swarthmore in front 2-1.
F&M registered the next two goals as Giampa fed a pass to Pritchard for a score at 10:22 and Catherine Onnen (So., Lutherville, MD/St. Paul's School for Girls) found Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/Hill School) in front of the crease for a goal at 11:51 to go ahead 3-2.
Swarthmore tied the score 21 seconds later as Roth put in an unassisted goal at 12:12, but the Diplomats' defense stiffened and the offense ignited for five goals in the final 17 minutes of play for a five goal lead at the break.
Giampa connected with Summers at 15:20, Prichard found Giampa at 20:46 before tallying an unassisted goal at 26:28 and a score off a feed from Onnen at 28:05 to take a 7-3 lead. Kelly Cassels (Jr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) closed out the team's first half scoring with an unassisted goal at 28:55 as the Diplomats pushed the lead to 8-3.
The margin ballooned to 10-3 in the opening five minutes of the second half as Onnen scored on an assist from Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) at 4:13 and Prichard buried an unassisted goal at 4:55.
Roth broke the Diplomats' seven goal streak with a tally at 5:14 of the second half to trim the lead to 10-4, but Franklin & Marshall's offense responded with four scores for a 14-4 lead.
Foster started the scoring with an unassisted goal at 6:47 before feeding Cassels for a score at 16:23. Cassels found Summers for a goal at 16:46 and Prichard dodged her defender for an unassisted goal at 21:50.
The Garnet Tide attempted to make a comeback in the final 10 minutes of play as Crawford and Rachel Jordan scored at 23:43 and 27:05, respectively, but Pritchard ripped an unassisted goal into the twine at 28:10 for her sixth score of the game and a 15-6 lead with less than two minutes to play.
Swarthmore finished the scoring on defense as Jordan was credited with a tally for a Diplomats' own goal with 28 seconds left on the game clock for the 15-7 final score.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made 10 saves on 19 shots to earn the win, while Blair stopped 14 of the Diplomats' 34 shots to take the loss.
Further, the win marks the Diplomats 16th straight Centennial Conference regular season victory as F&M has not dropped a non-playoff conference game since a 9-8 loss to Washington College on April 10, 2004.
Franklin & Marshall (6-1, 2-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 1 versus Muhlenberg College in Centennial Conference action at Sponaugle-Williamson Field. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
