Box Score LANCASTER, PA - Attacker Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) scored three goals for a natural hat trick to lead the #6 Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team to a 14-3 victory over Bryn Mawr College in the Centennial Conference, regular season and home finale at Sponaugle-Williamson Field.
The win sets up a title run for the Diplomats (12-3, 8-1 Centennial Conference) as Franklin & Marshall will enter next weekend's Centennial Conference playoffs at Gettysburg College as the #2 seed.
On Saturday, April 29, the Diplomats will clash with Dickinson College in a semifinal game, while Gettysburg will take on the victor of a play-in game between Swarthmore College and Ursinus College. The semifinal winners will then meet on Sunday, April 30 at Gettysburg in the Centennial Conference title game.
The Diplomats finished the regular season in style as F&M built an 11-0 lead by halftime and pushed the margin out to 14-0 with 19 minutes to play in the game before the Owls rallied for three goals to set the final score.
In the first half, Foster opened the scoring for the Diplomats as she finished a pass from Catherine Onnen (So., Lutherville, MD/St. Paul's School for Girls) one minute into the game for a 1-0 lead. Sarah Meisenberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Severn) added to the lead as she fed passes to Kelly Cassels (Jr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) and Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/The Hill School) for goals at 26:43 and 22:14, before Summers converted on a free position shot at 22:14 for a 4-0 lead.
The run continued as Cassels scored off a pass from Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) at 17:43, Eileen Keever (Sr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) and Meisenberg scored unassisted at 10:31 and 7:36, respectively, before Keever added a free position goal at 6:46. Allison Solomon (Fr., Damascus, MD/Academy of the Holy Cross) and Ellie Lisle (So., Gladwyne, PA/Harriton) finished off the Diplomats first half scoring run as they tallied unassisted goals at 4:36 and 1:57, respectively, for an 11-0 lead.
Franklin & Marshall tacked on three goals in the opening minutes of the second half as Solomon and Amy Oliver (Jr., Westborough, MA/Westborough) scored free position goals at 26:35 and 22:38, respectively, and Foster closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 19:35 for a 14-0 lead.
Bryn Mawr closed to within 11 goals prior to the final horn as Jen Lam, Jessica Wurtz and Moriah Scott netted goals for the 14-3 final.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) earned the win playing the first half with one save and no goals allowed, while Julia Cutruzzula (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/The Ellis School) finished the game allowing three goals and making five saves in the second half. Alex Byers took the loss for Bryn Mawr allowing 14 goals with six saves.
Franklin & Marshall (12-3, 8-1 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 29-30 at Gettysburg College in the Centennial Conference playoffs.
