Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, PA - Attacker Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) scored four goals and handed out an assist for five points as the #9 Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team routed #17 Ursinus College 15-2 in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.
Statistically, the Diplomats (8-2, 4-1 Centennial Conference) dominated the game out shooting the Bears (7-4, 3-2 Centennial Conference) 45-5, including a 25-3 advantage in the second half, and led in ground balls (22-to-19) and free position shots (1-9 to 0-1).
Franklin & Marshall sealed the win in the first 12 minutes of play as midfielder Sarah Meisenberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Severn School) scored three goals and midfielder Kelly Cassels (Jr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) tacked on scores for a 4-0 lead at the 18:29 mark of the first half.
F&M opened the scoring 92 seconds into the game as Meisenberg split the Bears' defense and buried a shot past goalie Allyson Shicora at 28:28 for a 1-0 lead. Cassels added a free position goal at 21:32 before Meisenberg tallied back-to-back unassisted goals at 20:21 and 18:29.
The lead grew to 5-0 as attacker Catherine Onnen (So., Lutherville, MD/St. Paul's School for Girls) finished a feed from midfielder Sloan Giampa (Jr., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) at 8:31, but Ursinus' Kaitlin Glenn broke up the Diplomats shutout attempt with 4:32 left in the first half with an unassisted goal to pull the Bears to within 5-1.
Midfielder Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/The Hill School) closed out the first half scoring as she registered a goal on an assist from Cassels with 1:42 left until halftime as the Diplomats carried a 6-1 lead into the halftime.
Overall, the Diplomats dominated the half out shooting Ursinus 20-2 in the first half and held a 7-1 advantage in draw controls.
The Bears scored their second goal 4:41 into the second half as Lisa Clark finished a pass from Logan Conklin at the 25:19 to move to within 6-2, but the Diplomats closed out the game with nine unanswered goals for the 15-2 win.
Cassels scored unassisted at 21:05 and attacker Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) scored on an assist from Cassels at 19:05 to inch the lead to 8-1 before Foster pushed the lead out to nine goals as she scored off an assist from Giampa at 17:41 and buried an unassisted goal at 10:49.
Pritchard and Foster factored in the next four goals as Pritchard and Foster scored unassisted goals at 4:59 and 3:50, respectively, for an 11-1 lead. Foster threaded a pass to Pritchard for a goal at 2:36 and scored on a feed from defender Eileen Keever (Sr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) at 1:11 for a 14-2 margin before midfielder Vanessa Brown (Fr., Phoenixville, PA/Owen J. Roberts) finished the scoring with an unassisted goal with 39 seconds to play for the 15-2 final score.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) earned the win making three saves on five Ursinus shots, while Shicora took the loss making 19 saves on 45 F&M shots.
Franklin & Marshall (8-2, 4-1 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 12 at McDaniel College in Centennial Conference action. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
