Volleyball team opens with two decisive wins

The volleyball squad opened its 2006 with a scramble at F&M and came away with straight game wins over Rutgers-Camden and York. The Diplomats knocked off Camden 30-15, 30-17, 30-17 and followed that with a 30-26, 30-15, 33-31 win over York.

Maritza Fair came up big in both games, knocking off 22 total kills along with five service aces a block, three assists and four digs in six games. Her hitting percentage was a stellar .471 against Camden.

The entire roster got into the act; others who shown included Margot Phelan, who had nine kills against York and eight against Camden; Holly Cordisco and Valerie Pusateri had 31 and 25 assists respectively.

Coach Mary Kate Boland's team will be on the road Wednesday, Sept. 13 against Washington.
