Franklin & Marshall dropped its third consecutive game falling 60-55 at Haverford College on Saturday. The five-point loss represents the largest margin of defeat in the downswing, and the Diplomats' third loss in the last three games played between the schools on Haverford's campus.
The game was tightly contested throughout with neither side able to grab more than a five point lead until the final minute. The Diplomats claimed the lead seven times during the course of the game, while Haverford grabbed it eight times. The final lead change came with 3:33 left in the game when Matt Stitt dropped in a three to make it 49-46. Greg Rosnick had tied it a little more than a minute earlier on a trey, sparking the Fords' decisive 13-4 run. Haverford outscored F&M 18-9 in the game's closing minutes.
While Rosnick and Stitt did the damage late, it was Haverford's Ray Brown that led all scorers with 16 points to go with a seven rebound effort. Chaz Thomas scored 11 for the Fords. Rosnick finished with seven points, Stitt with six.
Derek Hines, Logan Outerbridge and Evan Hamme each scored in double figures for F&M. Hines dropped in 12 points, while Outerbridge and Hamme posted 11 and 10 points, respectively. Hines and Hamme each grabbed six boards for the Diplomats.
Franklin & Marshall turned the ball over 24 times which yielded 29 points for Haverford.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts McDaniel in Centennial play. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
