All five starters scored in double-figures as Franklin & Marshall ended a three game slide with an 82-70 win over McDaniel Wednesday evening. The Diplomats (7-11, 6-5 CC) ran up a lead as large as 20 points in the first half before coasting to the finish line.
Franklin & Marshall pulled away early on a 14-3 run, then clicked on three three-pointers in a two minute stretch to go ahead 30-12 just past the midway point of the half. A pair of Logan Outerbridge free throws later, Franklin & Marshall had its largest lead of the night, holding a 20-point advantage.
McDaniel (8-7, 5-4 CC) responded with an 11-2 run of its own to cut it as close as nine with 3:43 left in the first period, but the Diplomats got back on track with six unanswered points, including the sixth three-pointer of the first half from the hands of Pat Przybylowski. F&M went to the locker room with a 42-28 lead. McDaniel aided the Diplomats in the cause turning the ball over 14 times in the first half. Six of the giveaways came on the eight offensive fouls called in the half.
McDaniel attempted to make a game of it in the second half connecting on seven-of-17 treys. The Terror was able to make it as close as seven points with 6:53 left in the game, but a four-minute 11-2 Diplomat run made it a 16 point differential to put the Terror on ice.
As a team, Franklin & Marshall hit on 10-of-14 treys (71.4 %) in the game, while the Terror connected on 10-of-27 shots from beyond the arc.
The Diplomats' Outerbridge led all scorers with 19 points. He was three-for-three from three-point land. Brandon Chasen and Bryan Teschke each scored 16 points. 12 of Chasen's points came from three-point range. Adam Leonard and Derek Hines scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, and each grabbed six rebounds to lead the Diplomats.
Ryan Brandenburg and Joe Hunter led McDaniel's scoring effort with 15 and 13 points. The pair combined for seven threes for the Terror. Chad Arrington's eight boards, six on the offensive end, was a game-high
