Ursinus limited the Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team to nine first half points in walking to a 56-27 win over the Diplomats Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center. The Bears (11-7, 8-4 CC) lead was in double-digits for 31:34 of the contest, and ballooned as large as 34 points.
The Diplomats (5-13, 4-8 CC) endured six and 11-minute stretches without a field goal in the first half, and was outscored 32-9 in the period. Miriam Marcis accounted for six of those nine points en route to a team game-high of eight points. Franklin & Marshall shot 18.2 percent from the field in the first half connecting on just four-of-22 field goals.
Meanwhile, Mary Kate Daley and Sarah Hennessey went to work scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the first half. Hennessey finished the game leading all scorers with 16 points in addition to her four steals, three assists, and blocked shot. Daley had 15 points and four steals to her credit. The game was marred by 56 combined turnovers.
Franklin & Marshall returns to the court Tuesday evening at Gettysburg. That game tips off at 7:00 p.m.
