LANCASTER, Pa. - Host Franklin & Marshall
upset #11 Haverford, 3-1 (20-30, 30-27, 30-25, 30-24) Saturday
afternoon in a Centennial Conference volleyball match. The loss
snapped Haverford's program-record 24 match winning streak to start
the season. The Fords are now 24-1 overall and 6-1 in Centennial
play. Franklin & Marshall improved to 16-9 and 4-3,
respectively, with the win.
The Diplomats got 19 kills from both Maritza Fair and Margot Phelan,
but it was solid defensive play that gave the Diplomats' the
winning edge
"Pamela
Horner played an incredibly smart match," said head coach,
Mary-Kate Boland. "She took away their bread and butter over the
final three games. I am really proud of the team effort this
afternoon."
Horner recorded 14 digs and three assisted blocks in the win.
She also had four kills and 11 assists. Phelan added 25 digs to the
defensive cause, while Susan Taylor led the
squad with one solo block and five assisted stuffs. Valerie Pusateri
had one solo block and four block assists. She fed the offense with
51 set assists.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday at Dickinson.
