LANCASTER, Pa. - Host Franklin & Marshall overcame
Muhlenberg, 3-1 (30-26, 25-30, 30-27, 30-22) Saturday in a
Centennial Conference volleyball match before defeating St. Mary's
Md., 3-1 (20-30, 31-29, 35-33, 30-21) in non-conference play. The
win marks the second over St. Mary's for the Diplomats this season.
Franklin & Marshall improves to 17-10, 5-4 CC.
Margot
Phelan combined for 33 kills on the day, while Maritza Fair led the
team with 34 spikes, but it was strong blocking by Nicole Moran and
Valerie
Pusateri that pushed the Diplomats beyond the competition.
Morano tallied eight blocks (two solo, five assisted), while
Pusateri added another seven blocks (two solo, five assisted). As a
team, the Diplomats recorded 29 during the two matches.
Jenna
Walck led the defensive effort with 43 digs in the two matches,
while Phelan added another 38. Pusateri lead with 58 assists, and
Pamela
Horner notched 38 in the efforts.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Swarthmore. The
match is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
