COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Jennie Moore scored twice and recorded two
assists to lead fourth-ranked and top-seeded Ursinus over Franklin
& Marshall 9-0 in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference
(CC) field hockey championships on Saturday.
The Bears (17-2) advance to their fourth straight championship
game and will battle second-seed Johns Hopkins for the CC title
tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Megan Yoder and Lindsay Cappa each netted two goals to help
Ursinus avenge a 3-2 loss to the Diplomats (12-7) in the
regular-season match up.
Jennifer
Burdo made a season-high 21 saves on 35 shots taken by the
Bears.
Ursinus used a penalty corner to get on the board early.
Meredith Stabley scored on passes from Kait Sutherland and Nikki
Thren for a 1-0 lead with 4:30 gone in the first half.
Cappa made it 2-0 at 8:51 on a Stabley assist, before Moore
tallied both of her goals to give the Bears a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Ursinus was able to get five more goals in the second half,
including two in the first five minutes thanks to Sutherland and
Cappa.
Moore found Jessica Zatwarnicki in the 52nd minute and Yoder
finished the scoring with back-to-back goals in a three-minute span
for the final margin.
