Diplomats Fall To Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Lauren Boyle led four players in double figures with a game-high 20 points and Alexis Bates added 15 points to lead Muhlenberg past Franklin & Marshall 72-59 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday.

Bates scored nine points over a 15-4 run in the second half, giving the Mules (4-2, 2-1 CC) a 17-point lead and snapping the Diplomats (4-1, 2-1 CC) four-game winning streak.

Kelly McKeon recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Erin McSherry led on the boards with 12 rebounds.

Sarah Meisenberg and Beth Holt each posted 14 points, while Cara Landolfi added a season-high 12 points.

Muhlenberg never trailed and went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe, including a 7-for-8 showing from McKeon in the final minute of play for its second conference victory.

Boyle tallied the first nine out of 13 points for the Mules, giving them an 11-point lead at the 13:38 mark of the opening half.

F&M got within two points behind six consecutive points by Holt at 46-44 with 8:37 remaining in the game, but Muhlenberg took the double-digit lead it once had and held on for the win.

Brittany Braxton finished with a team-high 11 rebounds for the Diplomats.

F&M returns to action on Wednesday against Arcadia. Game time is 6 p.m.
