LANCASTER, Pa. -
Franklin & Marshall let a 1-1 game get away in the top of the seventh, falling to Haverford 4-2 in the opening half of Tuesday's Centennial Conference double-header. The Diplomats recovered in the second game, rallying from behind for an 8-5 victory, F&M's first in the Centennial Conference this season. The Diplomats last won a Centennial Conference game on April 6, 2006.
Meredith Morgan worked three-and-one-thirds scoreless innings in relief of Ali Tyler for her first win of the season in the nightcap.
F&M fell behind 4-1 midway through the third, but strung together back-to-back three run frames to capture the lead in the bottom of the fourth. The Diplomats hung on from there. Kristina Fietkiewicz went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Kathleen Clinchy drove in a pair of runs in the win.
The Fords' Taylor Zadavsy got on board with a lead off single, then scored the go ahead run on a past ball in the seventh inning of the opener. She would have come across anyway Cassandra Searls put the game away with a two-run shot on the same at bat.
Becky Garibotto moved to 6-1 on the year, allowing two runs, one earned, while striking out five. Bonnie Crouthamel took the loss to fall to 4-7. She struck out six.
Feldman went 2-for-4 in the opener turning her triple into the game's first when Morgan brought her home with a single up through the middle of the Fords' defense.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Saturday at Ursinus.
