COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus swept Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference softball action Saturday afternoon. The Bears took the first game 5-2, and followed that with a 12-6 win. Ursinus improved to 19-5 (6-0 CC), while F&M fell to 7-19 (1-7 CC).

Franklin & Marshall took a 2-0 lead in the first on three hits, but managed only four more hits the rest of the way. Lauren Incorvaia (Manaplan, NJ / St. John Vianney) and Robyn Jones (Titusville, NJ / Pennington School) each reached on a two out singles. Kathleen Clinchy (Katonah, NY / Somers) brought them home with a double. Incorvia went 2-for-2 in the first game.

The Bears captured the lead in the third inning capitalizing on a pair of F&M errors. Ursinus knotted the game in the third when two runs scored on an error at shortstop. A passed ball brought the go-ahead run home later in the inning. Ursinus posted a pair of insurance runs in the sixth on a Jennie Moore double.

Despite having given up only a pair of earned runs, Bonnie Crouthamel (Chatham, NJ / Chatham) bore the loss to fall to 4-8. Mallory Greene improved to 10-1 having allowed two earned runs on seven hits. She struck out four batters.

The Diplomats fended off a mercy decision in the second game, rallying for four runs in the top of the fifth. F&M was in a 10-1 hole entering the inning, as Ursinus posted four runs in the bottom of the third and fourth.

Sarah Williams did the bulk of the damage driving in three runs on three hits in the second game. She also scored three time, including once on a home run with a runner aboard.

Jones drove in a pair for F&M with a single in the fifth, including Jessika Mancino (Lancaster, PA / Hempfield), who crossed the plate twice in the loss.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Sunday for a pair with Penn State-Berks.
