Diplomats Dispatch Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - #1 Franklin & Marshall opened the game with a 14-goal run before Bryn Mawr finally struck with half of its offense on the day, as the Diplomats' women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-2 win on the road. F&M improved to 13-0 (7-0 CC), while Bryn Mawr fell to 3-10 (0-6 CC).

Jen Pritchard (Media, PA / Penncrest) and Ashley Bevington (Schwenksville, PA / Hill School) each racked up five points. Pritchard scored four and assisted on another, while Bevington found net twice and set up three. Blake Hargest (Cockeysville, MD / SPSG) and Kelly Cassels (Downingtown, PA / Great Valley) each recorded four points. Hargest had three goals and an assist, while Cassels split with a pair of each.

The goals came fast and furious in the early going. The first two goals game 23 seconds apart. The third and fourth goal were spaced by 20 seconds of play, while the fifth and sixth goal came 27 seconds apart. F&M had a 6-0 lead 5:38 into the game. The Diplomats took a 16-1 lead into the half.

Katie Cogar (Baltimore / Balto. Friends), Beverly Menghetti (Glen Mills, PA / Penncrest) and Allison Solomon (Damascus / Acad. of the Holy Cross) each tallied their first goal of the season. Chelsea Meerbach (York, PA / York) made two saves and allowed both goals in her first start of the season.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Tuesday against Haverford.
