Mancino Leads No. 16 Diplomats Over McDaniel

Jessika Mancino scored the game-winning goal on her only shot of the contest in the 45th minute to lead No. 16 Franklin & Marshall past McDaniel 1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Wednesday.

The Diplomats (4-0, 1-0 CC) made one of the two shots taken in the second half count to win their fourth straight and record their first conference victory of the season.

Eileen O'Reilly played the ball in from the right side and Mancino was there to tap it in at the 44:50 mark.

Jennifer Burdo stopped four shots to collect her second shutout, while Tracie Hiatt had a defensive save for F&M on Michelle Fluty's shot early in the final half.

The Green Terror (2-1, 0-1 CC) held a 9-3 margin in shots and a 10-3 advantage in penalty corners, but could not find the back of the cage in the 70 minutes.

The Diplomats travel to Virginia this weekend to face Eastern Mennonite on Friday and Mary Washington on Saturday. Game times are 1 p.m.
