Diplomats Compete In Lebanon Valley Invitational

Margot Phelan combined for 33 digs and 25 kills, while Valerie Pusateri (dished out 50 assists to help Franklin & Marshall volleyball team post a 1-1 record on the first day of the Lebanon Valley Invitational on Friday.

The Diplomats (4-3) fell to York 3-1 in the first match and rebounded to defeat Ursinus 3-0 in the final match of the day.

Phelan led with 15 kills and 14 digs to lead F&M to a three-game sweep of the Bears (30-19, 30-15, 30-15). Freshman Pamela Horner knocked down five kills on seven attempts and Pusateri handed out 20 assists in the win.

In game one against York, the Spartans took the first two games 30-23 and 30-21, before F&M grabbed game three 30-22. York won the final game 30-21 for the match. Maritza Fair paced the Diplomats with 13 kills and four aces and Phelan added a team-high 19 digs.

F&M returns to action tomorrow against Ursinus on day two at the Lebanon Valley Invitational.
