BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The No. 19 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team scored three goals in the first half and added two more in the second to shut out Bryn Mawr 5-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.
The Diplomats (7-2, 3-1 CC) scored five goals on 29 shots, getting two goals from Brittany Carson to register their third conference win.
Carson netted the game winner at the 15:53 mark of the first half with an unassisted tally and Anne Christensen gave F&M a 2-0 lead on a pass from Jessika Mancino in the 30th minute.
Whitney Sheaffer found Lindsay Solar on a penalty corner with 1:52 before halftime for the three-goal lead.
The Diplomats kept the goals coming in the final half, getting a second one from Carson at the 44:52 mark on Mollie Ruben's first assist of the season.
The game was capped with a goal thanks to the duo of Eileen O'Reilly and Pamela Cassidy. Cassidy dished out the ball to O'Reilly in the 58th minute to end the game with a 5-0 score.
Jennifer Burdo made two saves and played the first half, while Sarah Dileo did not need to make any stops in the second half.
F&M returns to action on Thursday against Lebanon Valley. Game time is 7 p.m
