Field hockey shuts out Albright

Box Score Seven different players scored, including four with their first goal of the season to help Franklin & Marshall shut out Albright 9-0 in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday afternoon.

The Diplomats (3-0) held a 35-6 shot advantage over the Lions (2-2), building a 4-0 lead at halftime and recording five more in the second half to remain undefeated on the season. Pamela Cassidy netted three goals and assisted on another.

Stolle Singleton scored off a rebounded save by Rachel Hager in the 14th minute for the 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later she assisted Cassidy, who fired a one-touch shot in the cage to make it 2-0.

The next two F&M goals came off penalty corners, thanks to two assists by Lindsay Solar. Brittany Carson tallied her second goal of the season and Anne Christensen made it her first for a 4-0 lead.

Cassidy scored back-to-back goals, before Millicent Scott finished an unassisted in the 58th minute.

Eileen O'Reilly had a hand in the final two goals, finishing a scramble to the right side of the cage and then assisting Lauren Wendth to complete the scoring at the 67:35 mark.

Jennifer Burdo stopped every one of Albright's shots, while Hager made a season-high 19 saves.

The Diplomats are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to McDaniel to open conference play. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
