MADISON, N.J. - Brittany Braxton collected her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Sarah Meisenberg tallied a team-high 16 points to help Franklin & Marshall edge Drew 58-52 in non-conference women's basketball action on Tuesday.
The Diplomats (9-4) outscored the Rangers (4-9) 38-27 in the second half to overcome a five-point deficit to post their third consecutive win. Cara Landolfi was the third player in double figures for the second straight game, registering 14 points.
Allison Hartnett and Ann Mularz combined for 30 of Drew's 52 points. Hartnett went 7-for-13 from the floor, connecting on three from behind the arc for a game-high 18 points while Mularz added12 points.
Down 32-28 with 13:05 left in the game, F&M used a 12-4 run over a five-minute span to take the lead for good. Meisenberg nailed two jumpers in between a Braxton free throw and Landolfi worked out two points in the paint to make it 35-34.
Sara Wolman drained a three-pointer and Miriam Marcis got a fast-break layup for a 40-36 lead.
Jessica DelVecchio and Wolman exchanged treys, but Drew got nine straight points from behind the arc to knot the game at 45-all with 4:48 showing.
The Diplomats used two 6-0 spurts to keep a six-point lead down the stretch, while two free throws from Meisenberg made it 57-49 in the final 21 seconds.
Drew never trailed in the second half, taking its largest lead at the 7:45 mark after DelVecchio made back-to-back three pointers.
Four different players recorded two points apiece for F&M to even the score at 18 with 5:19 remaining until halftime, however the Rangers closed the first half with a 7-2 run to take a five-point lead at 25-20.
F&M scored 19 points off 22 Drew turnovers, while scoring 26 points in the paint.
The Diplomats return to action on Thursday against Haverford. Game time is 6 p.m.
