BALTIMORE, Md. - Erin Stafford scored the game-winning goal in
the 88th minute to help No. 8 Johns Hopkins squeeze past
Franklin & Marshall 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's
soccer action on Wednesday.
Stafford netted her third goal of the season with 2:03 left on
the clock in the second half to keep the Blue Jays (10-0-3, 6-0 CC)
undefeated in conference play and snap the Diplomats (8-3, 4-2 CC)
four-game winning streak.
For the second straight game, Danielle David tallied a goal and
Amy Cawley dished out an assist for F&M.
Hopkins grabbed an early 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Erica
Suter just 5:38 into the contest. It wasn't until the
66th minute that David scored the game-tying goal with a
poke to the opposite corner off a pass from Cawley.
The Blue Jays managed to maintain an unblemished record after
Stafford netted the game winner thanks to an assist from Leslie
O'Brien with time expiring.
David's goal marked her eighth of the season and the fourth
straight game in which she has scored in. Netminder Erin Roy made
five saves on 12 shots take by Hopkins.
The Diplomats will continue conference play at Haverford on
Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
