HAVERFORD, Pa. - Franklin Marshall dropped a pair of matches at
Haverford College Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats were swept 3-0
by the Fords, while #1 Juniata handed F&M a 3-1 setback in the
second meeting between the squads this season.
F&M opened the afternoon with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-14 loss to
Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) play. Franny Glick posted
11 kills on 16 attacks (.688) while Kate Comey served up 32 assists
for the Fords who moved to 18-5 (6-1 CC) on the year. The Diplomats
got six kills from Nicole Morano, Margot Phelan, and Jessica
Poucel.
F&M became only one of seven teams to take a game from #1
Juniata this season. F&M won the opener 25-23, but fell 25-18,
25-10, 25-16 over the next three games. Phelan led all hitters with
11 kills, She also recorded 11 digs. Lis Power's 17 digs marked a
match high. Pam Horner posted 21 assists and eight digs while Val
Pusateri served up four aces in the match.
Erin Albert led the Eagles' attack with 10 kills. Michelle
Morchesky and Sam Bristol each posted nine kills for Juniata, who
went to 20-2 on the year.
F&M is now 8-15 on the season with a 3-3 record in league
play, but the Diplomats remain in the hunt for the Centennial
Conference's championship tournament. F&M has four matches left
on the docket with three matches slated for home. The Diplomats
return to the court Wednesday night at the Mayser Center against
Dickinson.
