LANCASTER, Pa. - After 110 minutes of Centennial Conference (CC)
women's soccer, Franklin & Marshall and Dickinson battled to a
scoreless tie on a chilly Wednesday night in Lancaster.
The Diplomats (8-4-1, 4-3-1 CC) ended the Red Devils (8-3-3,
4-2-1 CC) four-game winning streak against F&M to remain
undefeated at home this season. Danielle David and Dickinson's
Sarah Casey, the CC's top goal scorers, were stopped by each
other's defense and held to one shot on the night.
Both teams had opportunities in overtime to score the golden
goal, but could not find the back of the net. Sara White sent a
shot high from 18-yards out with 5:30 left in the first extra
period, while Shannon Summers had a header off a corner by David
saved by Kailynn Hartmann.
The Red Devils tallied the lone shot in the final overtime with
Ashley Kunkle blasting a shot high of the goal at the 4:09 mark.
In regulation, Shelby Cummins gave the Diplomats their best
chance in the opening stanza. The sophomore had a one-on-one
situation from 12-yards out, but Hartmann was there to make the
foot save to set up an F&M corner.
Kunkle was looking for the game winner in the second half,
making Erin Roy dive to the right for the save with just 3:22
remaining.
Roy ended with seven saves, while Hartmann finished with four.
Dickinson held the advantage in the shot category, taking 20 to the
Diplomats seven.
F&M returns to action on Saturday at Muhlenberg. Game time
