Muhlenberg Manages Diplomats

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Chessie Martinez and Jess Kasza each scored a goal in the second half to lead Muhlenberg over Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Friday night.

The Mules (8-8, 4-4 CC) could not find the back of the cage on the 17 shots in the first half, but made two out of the five taken in the final stanza count to collect their eight win of the season.

Naomi Stone, playing in her hometown, made a career-high 11 saves for the Diplomats (5-11, 2-7 CC).

Martinez scored first, collecting a pass from Nicki Notarianni from the right side and finishing from the far post for a 1-0 lead at the 54:41 mark.

With 3:03 left to play, Cara Rothacker found Kasza, who blasted a shot form the top of the circle for an insurance and final goal.

Michelle Consiglio made three saves on five shots taken by F&M. Muhlenberg also held a 15-7 advantage in penalty corners.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday for the final game of the season against Swarthmore. Game time is 3 p.m.
