LANCASTER, Pa. – Nicole Morano played her best volleyball
of the season to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 3-0 win over
McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball Wednesday
evening. The victory was the 100th for F&M's head coach,
Mary Kate Boland.
Morano hit .533, posting nine kills on 15 attempts and blocked five
McDaniel advances to power the Diplomats' (5-12, 3-1 CC)
victory. Margot Phelan's play on the outside also gave
the Green Terror (8-10, 2-2 CC) fits. The senior posted 10 kills
while digging the Diplomats out of danger nine times.
Boland recorded her 100th win 15 matches into her sixth season -
all spent at her alma mater. She is 100-63 (.614) in her
young career.
Stellar serving fueled F&M's ride to the century mark for
Boland. Erica Spangler pieced together both a six and seven-point
service run in the match. She recorded five aces on the evening
while Pam Horner saw four serves go unreturned. Horner had 21
assists, 10 digs, four kills and three blocks in the match while
Spangler put up four kills, 12 digs and a pair of blocks.
The Terror got nine kills and a block from Taylor Hergott. Jenna
Filipone posted 12 digs, three kills and an ace for McDaniel.
The victory was pivotal in the mid-season Centennial Conference
standings as four teams, including both F&M and McDaniel were
tied for third place in the league at 2-1 entering
Wednesday's match.
The Diplomats return to action for three matches at Oswego State
this weekend.
