GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The top-seeded Gettysburg women's volleyball team used scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-17 to defeat Franklin & Marshall 3-0 in the Centennial Conference (CC) semifinals on Saturday at Bream Gymnasium.

The Bullets (18-10) collected their second win over the Diplomats (13-16) this season to advance to the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Gettysburg will face the winner of Johns Hopkins and Haverford.

Sophomore Kate Yoder recorded a game-high 10 kills and three block assists, while Amanda Krempf handed out 28 assists.

For F&M, Margot Phelan led with seven kills and eight digs, while Pam Horner totaled 10 digs and Val Pusateri dished out 17 assists. Nicole Morano added six kills and two blocks.

In close game one, it came down to the final points to decide the winner. The Bullets never trailed and took a 9-4 lead off six kills to force a F&M timeout. The Diplomats got within three on seven occasions until Lis Powers' ace made it 22-20. Phelan's two kills kept F&M in the game, but an attack error and a kill by Krempf sealed the victory, 25-22.

Gettysburg jumped out to a 5-1 lead in game two, getting all five points on errors to force an immediate timeout by the Diplomats. After Yoder's block put the Bullets up 9-5, Gettysburg won the next 11 out of 15 points, including six in a row that involved a kill by Kristina Mercier and an ace by Kristin Kotewicz for a commanding 20-9 lead.

F&M won the next four points behind the serving of Erica Spangler and Gettysburg called a timeout to slow the Diplomats momentum. F&M cut the deficit to 23-19, but the Bullets held on to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-21 game-two victory.

With the third game tied at 6-all, Gettysburg reeled off eight consecutive points to take a 14-6 lead with a service error stopping the run. The Bullet did not let the Diplomats get closer than five points en route to a 25-17 win to advance to the championship game.
