ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's softball team dropped its first two Centennial Conference (CC) games of the season, falling 8-4 and 4-1 to traditional Centennial frontrunner, Muhlenberg on Saturday. The Mules (5-11, 2-0 CC) scored eight runs with the help of four Diplomat (1-11, 0-2 CC) errors to come from behind in the first game, and jumped on F&M from the outset in the nightcap.

F&M got out in front early in the opener when Caitlin Elfring hit a one-out, two RBI single to make it 2-0. Three singles in the third left the bases laded for Jess Feldman who drew a walk to make it 3-0, before Samantha Basuk singled to score Robyn Jones making it 4-0. F&M's bats went silent from there, with the Diplomats picking up just two hits the rest of the way.

Muhlenberg scored six runs in the fifth on three hits and four errors, before tacking on two more runs on three hits and an error in the sixth.

Diplomats' starter Bonnie Crouthamel was saddled with a tough loss having surrendered eight runs, none of which were earned. Kat Clinchy went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for F&M.

A J Kasza two-out single plated a pair of runs in the first inning of the nightcap. It was all of the offense Muhlenberg needed to down F&M 4-1. Muhlenberg starter A Bruckner scattered nine hits while F&M stranded 12 runners in the loss. Karalynne Clark singled in the seventh to drive in Jones for F&M's only run in the contest. Lauren Incorvaia went 3-for-4 at the plate for F&M.

The Diplomats return to action on Tuesday for a pair against McDaniel. It will mark the first time the F&M will play a home softball contest this season.
