LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's
softball team split a pair of games at Albright on Tuesday, falling
7-5 in the opener before rallying for an 18-6 win in the nightcap.
The Diplomats (9-19) posted season-highs in runs (18), hits
(23), RBIs (14) and doubles (4), in the 18-6 win. The win was the
ninth of the season, matching last year's overall win total.
F&M led 9-4 heading into the seventh inning of the second game,
and then posted a nine spot in the final inning with each of the
first nine batters crossing home. All nine of F&M's starters
recorded multiple hits. Liz Iannaconi went
3-for-5 with four RBIs, while Robyn Jones went
4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Alyssa Yackle
was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored.
The Lions (10-22) jumped on F&M in the first game scoring
three runs in the first with two runs scoring on Alex Keyes' home
run. Jones Answered with a two run shot of her own in the third
inning to make it 3-2. The score went unchanged until the fifth
inning when Albright posted four runs on as many hits and an error.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Dickinson.
