READING, Pa. - Danielle David netted all three goals for her
first collegiate hat trick, erasing a 1-0 deficit and leading
Franklin & Marshall past Alvernia 3-1 in non-conference women's
soccer action on Saturday.
David scored the goals in a span of 17 minutes, 30 seconds, all
in the second half and the final tally on a penalty kick at the
9:47 mark to help the Diplomats (4-0) remain undefeated on the
season.
Amy Cawley assisted David's on her first goal of the day, while
Erin Roy, the current Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player
of the Week, stopped four out of the five shots on goal.
Jennifer Zeminski got the Crusaders on the board first, scoring
off a quick pass from Patricia Lapinsky at the 15:52 mark of the
first half. This lead would stand heading into the second half
until the 63rd minute when Cawley sent a long cross into
the box and David buried her shot into the bottom left corner of
the net to make it 1-all.
At 74:10, David scored the game-winning goal and her second of
the day before converting a penalty kick under the 10-minute mark
for a 3-1 advantage.
F&M fired off 19 shots, including six from David and four
from Shannon Summers
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Ursinus for their
first CC contest. Game time is 3 p.m.
