COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Freshman defender Monica Oliveto scored the
golden goal with just 4:32 left in the second overtime to lead
Ursinus over Franklin & Marshall 2-1 in the Centennial
Conference (CC) opener on Saturday.
Bridget Winn sent the ball in from the left side off a direct
kick and Oliveto headed the ball into the net to give the Bears
(2-5, 1-0 CC) their first conference win.
The Diplomats (4-1, 0-1 CC) took a 1-0 lead in the first half
when Shannon Summers scored from 30-yards out at the 27:44 mark.
Ursinus tied it at 1-all in the second half thanks to Jess
Porcelain scored at 51:37 on an assist from Katelyn Miller.
The Bears had two chances to end the game in regulation, but
consecutive goals were called back due to interference with the
F&M's goalie Erin Roy.
Ursinus goalkeeper Lisa Clark made eight saves, while Roy
tallied 11 stops.
The Diplomats return to action Wednesday at Lebanon Valley. Game
time is 5 p.m.
