ANNVILLE, Pa. - The fourth-ranked Lebanon Valley College field
hockey team scored two goals in the second half to break open a 2-1
game and defeat Franklin & Marshall 4-1 in non-conference
action on Saturday.
The Diplomats (2-4) opened the scoring off a penalty corner just
five minutes into the game, but the Flying Dutchmen (6-1) netted
four unanswered goals to record their sixth win of the season.
Stolle Singleton recorded her first goal of the year and Eileen
O'Reilly dished out her second assist for F&M. Jen Burdo made a
season-high 14 saves on the afternoon.
Danielle Blasé scored a goal and an assist, including the
first marker for Lebanon Valley in the opening stanza. Blasé
took a pass from Alex Wolfe at the 12:14 mark, before assisting
Sarah Bevans in the 24th minute for a 2-1 lead.
After the break, the Flying Dutchmen made it 3-1 when Jocelyn
Nowak scored off her own rebounded shot with 24:08 left to play.
Nikki Bomberger tallied the final goal off a penalty corner in the
66th minute to secure the win.
Lebanon Valley fired off 23 shots to the Diplomats six with
Caitlin Baro making three saves in the cage.
F&M returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Alvernia,
beginning at 4:30 p.m.
