HAVERFORD, Pa. - Beth Holt and Amanda Miceli both
registered double figures for the second straight game, combining
for 25 points to lead Franklin & Marshall past Haverford 54-46
in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Thursday
night.
Holt registered a season-high 14 points, while Miceli recorded
11 points to help the Diplomats (6-7, 4-3 CC) outscore the Fords
(2-8, 1-5 CC) 36-23 in the second half for their fourth conference
victory to complete the season sweep of Haverford.
Brittany Lattisaw tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11
rebounds for the Fords. Kathleen Abels was also in double digits
with 12 points.
F&M erased a seven-point deficit at the beginning of the
second half with a 15-3 run to take a 33-28 edge and the lead for
good.
With a 23-18 lead at halftime, the Fords opened the second
stanza with a layup by Lattisaw for the Fords biggest advantage.
Miceli drained a three-pointer and Megan Pauley followed with a
layup, before Sarah Meisenberg knotted the game at 25-all with
a bucket at the 17:41 mark.
Danielle Harrison put Haverford on top one last time with a
triple, but Alison Menna added two points and Pauley hit a pair of
free throws for a one-point lead that would not relinquish.
The Diplomats used an 8-0 spurt behind three points by Cara
Landolfi and five points from Holt for 41-31 lead. F&M went
8-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final 1:48 to hold off the
Fords.
Haverford took control of the first half, keeping the lead until
the 5:41 mark when Allison Bauer gave the Diplomats a 14-12 edge.
The Fords scored the next nine out of 13 points to finish the half
ahead by five.
Pauley led F&M on the boards, pulling down a season-high 11
rebounds. Meisenberg and Pauley each added eight points in the win.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Muhlenberg. Game
time is 4 p.m.
