Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. - Kelly Crawford's goal in the 57th
minute was the difference as McDaniel knocked off Franklin &
Marshall in a Centennial Conference women's soccer match on
Saturday afternoon. Her goal broke up a 1-1 tie early in the second
half, allowing the Green Terror (3-8-1, 2-2 cc) to hang on for a
2-1 win.
Crawford 's goal off of a through ball from Cara Roig beat
the Diplomats' (3-10, 1-4 cc) challenging keeper, Jessica House at
56:22. It was the second time in the game that she had factored in
a McDaniel in the opening minutes of a half. Hilary Hanus gave the
hosts a lead at the 10:45 mark firing a shot off of an F&M
defender and into the Diplomats' net. Crawford was awarded the
assist.
The Diplomats tied it up late in the half when Hannah Savage
buried a shot from the top of the box into the top left corner of
the McDaniel net. Savage's marker at 41:10 was her second goal of
the season.
The Diplomats had opportunities late, earning seven corner kicks
over the final 30 minutes of play. The final corner, inserted by
Jen Korngut, allowed Meaghan Mancini to fire a shot with 12
seconds remaining. The Diplomats' 17th shot of the day
was blocked before it could do any damage.
Franklin & Marshall returns to action on Wednesday when the
Diplomats host Johns Hopkins.
