LANCASTER, Pa. - Renee Dessimone's goal late in the second half
proved to be the game-winner as Muhlenberg defeated Franklin &
Marshall 1-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer game.
The Diplomats fall to 3-14 (1-8 CC) while the Mules improve to 10-5
(7-1 CC).
Dessimone's goal came at 62:30 when she received a pass from
Maggie Neary and lofted the ball out of the reach of F&M keeper
Katie Golding's. Golding was under attack throughout the game
facing 18 shots. The Diplomats managed only two shots.
The Mules' Michele Toher picked up the win. Toher improved to
8-5. Golding was saddled with the loss. Golding stopped eight shots
and falls to 3-12.
F&M's seniors were recognized before the game. Seniors
Meaghan Mancini and Jenny Jones played their last game on Tylus
Field.
Franklin & Marshall wraps up the 2009 campaign on October
31st when the Diplomats travel to Swarthmore.
