LANCASTER, Pa. -- It was senior day for the Franklin &
Marshall Field Hockey team, but it was a sophomore that stole the
show. Allison McLaren picked up her first career hat trick leading
the Diplomats to a 4-0 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial
Conference (CC) field hockey action. The Diplomats improve to 8-7
(4-5 CC) while the Mules fall to 8-7 (4-4 CC).
McLaren's first goal came at 25:54 when she weaved through the
Muhlenberg defense and put the ball just out the reach of the
keeper. McLaren struck again six minutes later when she put
back a shot by Chelsey Talhelm at 31:44. In the
39th minute, McLaren collected her own rebound for her
third goal in the half. Allison Bauer put F&M up 4-0 in the
49th minute when received a pass from Eileen O'Reilly
for the one-timer.
The Diplomats dominated on offense firing off 15 shots while
their defense limited the Mules to just seven. F&M held a
nine to five advantage in penalty corners.
F&M's seniors were recognized before the game. Seniors
Paulette Cutruzzula, Stolle Singleton and Naomi Stone played their
last Saturday regular season game at Tylus Field.
Stone earned her seventh win of the season, collecting three
saves. The Mules Kristen Dorenburg took the loss. Dorenburg stopped
four shots and falls to 8-7.
Franklin & Marshall returns to field on October
28th when the Diplomats host York at 7pm.
