LANCASTER, Pa. - Chelsey Talhelm's two assist, one-goal
performance led Franklin & Marshall to a 4-1 victory over York
Wednesday evening at Tylus Field. The Diplomats (9-7) started off
slow, but put together a three-goal run, spanning 21 minutes, half
way through the first half to secure the win.
Eileen O'Reilly blasted home a pass from Talhelm for the first
goal at 21:31. Talhelm dished out her second assist, finding Becky
Willert, which put the Diplomats up 2-0 27 seconds into the second
half. It was Talhelm again at 42:53, this time scoring off
Stolle Singleton's cross.
York (13-7) ended their scoring drought at 48:10 when Katie
Dawkins received a pass from Megan Spangler and found the back of
the net, bringing the score to 3-1.
Willert added an insurance goal at 56:42 when she collected an
O'Reilly rebound for her second goal of the contest.
The Diplomats outshot York 16-6 and held an 11-6 advantage in
corners.
Sarah Dileo picked up the win for the Diplomats. Dileo stopped
four shots and improved to 2-2. Claire Rekitzke took the loss
stopping four shots.
Franklin & Marshall returns to the field on October
31st when the Diplomats travel to Swarthmore for their
final regular season game.
