LANCASTER, Pa - Jocelyn Novak's two goals led the Flying
Dutchmen to a 4-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall in
non-conference field action Monday evening at Tylus field.
The Diplomats (6-4, 2-2 CC) started off strong in the first
half, playing most of the period in front of the Flying Dutchmen's
cage. F&M outshot Lebanon Valley (10-1) in the first period 13
to five. It was a tale of two halves as the Flying Dutchmen came
out strong in the second period shooting eight times on goal while
limiting the Diplomats to just two.
Jenni Walker struck first for Lebanon Valley when she took a
cross from Allison Bicher and tapped it in for the goal in the
45th minute. Novak made it 2-0 when she collected a
rebound off a blocked shot and fired it home at 50:57. At 57:01,
Nikki Bomberger received a corner pass from Walker at the top of
the box and put the ball just out of the reach of F&M keeper
Naomi Stone.
Novak scored her 14th goal of the year in the
62nd minute when she took a cross from Bicher and found
the back of the net, putting Lebanon Valley up 4-0.
The Flying Dutchmen held a 9-7 advantage in penalty corners.
They were outshot by F&M 15-13.
Eileen O'Reilly and Chelsey Talhelm each got off two shots on
goal for the Diplomats.
Stone took the loss, stopping eight shots in the game. She falls
to 5-4. Lebanon Valley's Caitlin Baro picks up the win. She had six
saves and improves to 10-1.
Franklin & Marshall returns to the field October
17th when the Diplomats host Haverford.
