ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Kelly McKeon scored a game-high 17 points to
lead Muhlenberg to a 58-39 victory over Franklin & Marshall
Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference (CC) women's
basketball game. The Mules improved to 7-1 (5-0 CC) while the
Diplomats fall to 5-3 (2-3 CC).
Alexa Barbush scored six points in the first ten minutes of the
game to give F&M a 17-11 lead with 9:48 remaining in the half.
The Mules answered back on a McKeon-led 20-4 run. Muhlenberg would
not trail the remainder of the game as it took a 31-21 lead into
the locker room. McKeon finished the half with 10 points while
Barbush scored seven.
Muhlenberg opened the second half much like they finished the
first. The Mules went on an 18-8 run in the first 10 minutes of the
second to go up 20 points. Megan Pauley's free throws got F&M
within 14 with 2:36 to go but the Diplomats were unable to score a
basket the remainder of the game.
The Mules held a 51-45 advantage on the boards picking up 20 on
the offensive side for 17 second-chance points.
In addition to McKeon, Alexandra Chili and Alita Zabrecky also
scored in double-figures for the Mules. Chili finished with 12
points, on 4-for-8 shooting, and Zabrecky added 11.
Barbush scored a team-high nine points for F&M highlighted a
perfect 7-for-7 from the line. Megan Pauley and Beth Holt scored
eight points apiece.
Franklin & Marshall returns to the court January
2nd when Diplomats play Montclair St. in the first game
of the Marymount Holiday Classic.
