WESTMINISTER, Md. - McDaniel held off a late Franklin &
Marshall run to defeat the Diplomats 60-51 in a Centennial
Conference (CC) men's basketball game Saturday afternoon.
Trailing most of the second half, F&M (5-2, 1-1 CC) put
together an Anthony Brooks-led 18-9 run to go up 49-48 with 4:24
showing on the clock. Brooks scored 11 points, and pulled down four
rebounds in the run that spanned over nine minutes. McDaniel (4-2,
2-0 CC) answered with a 10-2 run in the last four minutes to secure
the victory. Louis Sarris-Grau scored five of his season-high 17
points in the final 2:37.
Brooks finished the night with 15 points, shooting 7-for-10 from
the floor. He collected six boards and two steals in the game.
Brandon Beckford hit a jumper with 1:09 remaining that put the
Diplomats within three points, but Sarris-Grau converted a
three-point play with 35 seconds left. McDaniel hit three of four
free throws to secure the win.
The first half had six lead changes and eight ties before the
Green Terror ended the half on a 7-4 run to go ahead 28-25.
Michael Jarboe scored eight points for McDaniel and James McNally
chipped in seven for the Diplomats.
In addition to Sarris-Grau, the Green Terror had two other
players score in double-figures. Jarboe finished with 15 points and
Marcus Dyson added 13.
McNally, who scored the first six points of the second half for
F&M, finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. The junior
forward is 19 points away from 1,000 in his career and 11 rebounds
shy of 500.
The Green Terror defense held F&M's second leading scorer,
Georgio Milligan, to just five points. Milligan came into the game
averaging 18 points and shooting 52% from the field and 67% from
behind the arc. He finished the night 2-for-11 from floor and
0-for-5 from the three-point arc.
Franklin & Marshall returns to court on December
9th when the Diplomats hosts Gettysburg with a
double-header against the Bullets. The women tip-off at 6:00 pm
followed by the men at 8:00 pm.
