WESTMINISTER, Md. - McDaniel opened up with a 15-3 run and
cruised to a 69-48 victory over Franklin & Marshall in
Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action Saturday
afternoon. The Diplomats (5-1, 2-1 CC) suffered their first loss of
the season.
The Green Terror (2-4, 2-2 CC) shot 55% from the floor in the
first half while its defense limited F&M to 27%. F&M came
within eight points of McDaniel in the half on an Allison Bauer
(seven points) field goal with 9:38 remaining.
McDaniel pulled away from there and took a 37-22 lead into the
locker room led by Ali Moreland's 11 points. Alexa Barbush scored
six points for the Diplomats in the first half.
The second half mimicked the first as McDaniel pushed their lead
to 28 points with 10:30 remaining in the contest.
Each team had two players scoring double-figures. Moreland
scored a game-high 15 points, going 6-for-13 from the field, and
Cara Thompson added 10, shooting 62% (5-for-8) for the Green
Terror.
Amy Chabitnoy and Barbush scored 10 points each for F&M.
Chabitnoy was 5-for-6 and Barbush shot 3-for-7 from the field and
4-for-4 from the line.
McDaniel's defense limited F&M's two leading scorers, Megan
Pauley and Beth Holt, to three points each.
The Green Terror held a 46-35 advantage on the boards and picked
up 11 blocks to the Diplomats' four.
Franklin & Marshall returns to court on December
9th when the Diplomats host Gettysburg with a
double-header against the Bullets. The women tip-off at 6:00 pm
followed by the men at 8:00 pm.
