LANCASTER, Pa. - Sarah Meisenberg scored a game-high 19 points
to lead Franklin & Marshall's women's basketball team to a
67-37 win over Bryn Mawr on Saturday.
The Diplomats (13-10, 10-6 CC) posted their fifth straight and
19th overall win against the Owls (2-21, 0-17 CC). It is
the first time this season that F&M has won by a 30-point
margin.
Ten others scored for the Diplomats, including Faith
Meisenberg who went 3-for-3 for a career-high eight points.
Megan Pauley and Amanda Miceli each had seven points.
Senior Jessica Allen put up a double-double for Bryn Mawr,
scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds.
F&M held the Owls to just 21 points in the first half and 16
in the second half to collect the conference win and remain in a
tie for fifth place in the CC standings.
Bryn Mawr stayed with the Diplomats through the first 10 minutes
of the opening stanza, even taking a 6-5 lead at the 15:58 mark.
With the game tied at 11-all, F&M used a 13-4 run to take a
24-15 lead with 3:51 remaining. Sarah Meisenberg recorded eight
points in four minutes to pace the Diplomats in the run and Beth
Holt scored the final five points for a double-digit lead to end
the half, 31-21.
F&M continued to pull away in the second half, going 4-for-5
as a team from the floor to make it 41-23. The lead turned into a
20-point margin after Casey Downie drained a jumper near the
baseline to make it 47-27. Faith Meisenberg hit a three-pointer
with 6:38 left, putting the Diplomats ahead 59-29 and it was her
second triple with 28 seconds remaining that sealed the 30-point
win at 67-37.
F&M only committed 13 turnovers, while forcing 25 by the
Owls.
The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday at Gettysburg. Game
time is 6 p.m.
