FT. MYERS, Fla. – Franklin & Marshall's softball
team continued its early season successes with a pair of wins in
Florida on Monday. The Diplomats knocked off Albright 9-1, then
shutout St. Lawrence 6-0 to improve to 8-2 on the season. The start
is F&M's best since the 1981 season when the Diplomats
won the first 21 games of the year en route to a 22-4 record.
Nicole Morano improved to 5-0 on the year with a 9-1, complete
game win over Albright (2-0). Meredith Morgan was 3-for-3 with
three runs on three doubles. She also recorded an RBI. Lauren
Incorvaia hit another homer, driving in a pair. Barbara Sasso also
knocked in three runs, while Kelly Marchisio recorded two RBIs on
as many hits.
Sarah Damato worked a complete game shutout in the 6-0 blanking of
St. Lawrence (1-4). Morgan had two RBIs, driving herself in on her
first home run of the season. Caitlin Elfring, Morano, and
Incorvaia each had an RBI.
F&M is idle on Tuesday, but will get the chance to match
last year's wins total on Wednesday with games against
UMass-Dartmouth and Fredonia State.
